Proposed Project for 2025: Inter-School Quiz Competition

There will be a total of twenty schools.

ONLY students in SSS1 are eligible to participate.

The date for the debate competitions will be made known soonest

Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics

This will be contracted to teachers who are very well grounded in the chosen subjects.

These will be written on letter headed papers and sent to schools at least a month before the quiz competition to enable them make adequate preparations.

The quiz competition will be conducted one day in this format:

  • There will be the first round of twenty schools divided into two groups which shall be called groups A and B with each group having ten schools each. Five schools will progress to the next round from each of the groups.
  • The second round will see ten (10) schools competing. The ten (10) schools will be divided into two groups of five schools each. The groups shall be called groups C and D. Three schools will progress to the next round from each of the groups.
  • The third round will see six (6) schools competing. The six (6) schools will be divided into three groups of two schools each. The groups shall be called groups E, F and G. Three schools will progress to the final round.
  • The final round will see the finalists competing for the prizes.

Every student will be allowed a period of 30 seconds to answer each question

Each participating school will present three students each. While one is the main participant, the other two students will cheer him or her up. The total number will be determined by the number of schools we have.

  • There will be consolation prizes for schools which do not make it to the finals.
  • The prizes for the first, first runner-up and second runner-up will be #500,00 ,#300,000:00 and #150,000:00 respectively.

Honorarium for the teachers who will set the questions will be as enumerated below:

There will be a total of twenty schools to be visited. Six (6) schools each from Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Isoko North and Isoko south. Four (4) schools each from Uvwie and Udu. The logistics cost for the visit will be enumerated below.

For the actualization of this lofty idea, the following budget consideration should be looked at:

1. NOTIFICATION AND INVITATION OF PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS.

There will be need to notify and invite schools of this lofty idea so they can make adequate preparation. To this end, I suggest that invitation letters be written with the group’s letter headed papers and sent to participating schools. Since the schools are scattered within the Delta central and Delta south senatorial districts, there will be need for the provision of funds for the visitation and notification. The order of visitation and financial implication is explained below:

  • Schools in Ughelli North and South totaling six with each local government having three schools will require the sum of fifty thousand naira #50,000 for transportation.

  • Schools in Isoko North and South totaling six with each local government having three schools will require the sum of fifty thousand naira #50,000 for transportation.

  • Schools in Uvwie and Udu local government areas totaling eight with each local government having four schools will require the sum of fifty thousand naira #50,000 for transportation.
